What's the difference between General pest control and Termite control?

General Pest Control Spray (Topical Treatment)

This is your standard spray treatment, typically applied:

  • Around the perimeter of your home (foundation, windows, doors)

  • Inside

  • On surfaces where insects walk or hide

It targets common pests like:

  • Scorpions

  • Ants

  • Spiders

  • Roaches, etc.

These bugs come into your home or are already nesting in visible or semi-visible areas. The spray acts as a barrier or contact kill. It’s usually topical, meaning it’s applied to surfaces where pests are active.

Termite Trenching Treatment (Soil Treatment)

Termite treatments are much more involved and pricey

Here’s why:

Termites live and travel underground.

To reach your home, they build mud tubes and come from the soil to find wood.

So with trenching:

  • A trench is dug around the perimeter of your home

  • A liquid termiticide is poured or injected into that trench and then the soil is replaced

  • This creates a chemical barrier in the ground, which termites must pass through to reach your home

There’s also rodding or drilling for slab foundations or concrete areas, to inject termiticide underneath.

Why Topical Sprays Won’t Work for Termite control

Topical treatments:

  • Sit on the surface

  • Are only effective if termites come into contact with them directly

  • Don’t penetrate the soil or reach the termite colonies

Termites don’t hang out on the surface like scorpions or ants— they avoid light and open air. They travel through hidden tunnels and attack your home from below.

So if you just spray the surface:

  • You’re missing where they actually are

  • You won’t kill the colony

  • Damage continues underground

In Arizona, pests don’t take a break—even when the weather cools down. Thanks to our mild winters, pests like scorpions, spiders, rodents, and cockroaches stay active year-round, unlike in colder states where freezing temperatures force them into dormancy. As the temperatures drop, even slightly, these critters start seeking shelter indoors, drawn to the warmth, food, and water your home provides. That’s why prevention is key: regular pest control treatments form a protective barrier, controlling   infestations before they start. It’s much easier (and cheaper) to keep pests out than to deal with a full-blown invasion, especially since pests like ants and roaches reproduce fast—missing treatments can give them time to multiply. With Arizona’s dry climate, homes become magnets for pests, offering everything they need to thrive. And it’s not just about nuisance—some pests, like bark scorpions pose real safety risks. Staying proactive with pest control helps keep your home and family comfortable and protected all year long.

And More........

I’m originally from the beautiful state of Washington, where I spent most of my life enjoying everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer—from snowboarding in the mountains to camping in the lush forests. I’ve always been drawn to the outdoors, and that love for adventure is a big part of who I am.

After years of building a life and career up north, I made the move to Arizona, and I’m excited for the new experiences, landscapes, and opportunities this state has to offer. Whether it’s exploring desert trails, camping, or soaking in those famous Arizona sunsets—I’m all in.

Professionally, I’ve spent the last 17 years in the pest control industry, gaining hands-on experience and deep knowledge of the field. I also owned my own pest control business back in Washington, which taught me a lot about hard work, customer service, and the value of doing things right the first time.

I am passionate about my work and am constantly seeking opportunities to grow—both personally and professionally. Whether I'm exploring a new trail or helping someone tackle a pest problem, I approach every challenge with enthusiasm, commitment, and a genuine love for what I do.
